Hola. This is Barbara. Thanks for being a subscriber to Tertulia. I have long meant to introduce you to Ricardo Romo’s informative Substack newsletter «Latinos in America». Ricardo Romo is a recognised urban historian and has taught and published in the field of civil rights, Mexican American history, and urban history. Today I feel the urge to share his recent request with you.
After the tragic shooting of 19 children and 2 adults at Robb Elementary School at Uvalde, Texas, Romo has reached out to his subscribers to ask for donations. He has been supporting the Uvalde public library for quite some time and is now asking us all to help the library provide the books and summer activities needed to support the children of Uvalde over the coming years. If you can, join him in these valuable efforts to retain and grow a safe space for the local children to read and learn.
Thank you for considering a donation. The surviving kids’ hearts will still be aching, but it will be good for them to know there is an educational place for them where they feel guarded - in every sense of the word.
